Diwali or Deepavali is one of the main festivals in India.
Deepavali falls on the dark night of amavasya and is devoted entirely
to the propitiation of goddess Lakshmi.Lakshmi is the Goddess of prosperity
and wealth. It is believed that Lakshmi Devi visits everyone's house during
Diwali and brings peace ,prosperity to all. Lakshmi pooja is performed normally
in the evening after sunset.
Deepa's or Diya's are lit in front of the deities.Naivedyais offered to the Goddess Lakshmi and devotional stotras are Chanted in praise of Goddess Lakshmi. After Deepavali Puja people light diyas (lamps) in their homes to clear the darkness from the world.
Diwali or Deepavali Puja Process:
1. Wear new clothes or silk dress.If possible Clean and decorate the pooja room.
2. Lit the lamp in front of the Deities .
3. Place fruits and sweets as prashad.
4. Make offerings of flowers & kumkum.
5. Lit the incense stick and Lit the lamps filled with Ghee.
6.Lord Ganesha is to be worshipped in all pujas before any other God or Goddess.
7.After Ganesha's worship family diety or kul devata is to be worshipped .
8. Now start Lakshmi Puja :You can chant Lakshmi asthottaram and offer prasad to goddes lakshmi.
